Our Hwa Chong Conversation 2026

Our Hwa Chong Conversations 2026, jointly organised by SNEC x HACAS, was a student-led dialogue platform designed to encourage Hwa Chongians to reflect on National Education values in today’s world. Through interactive activities and guided discussions, participants explored how national and regional issues shape Singapore’s place in an increasingly interconnected world.

Centred on ASEAN relations, regional cooperation, and real-world decision-making, OHCC 2026 invited students to step into the roles of different ASEAN countries through a simulation-based card game. The session encouraged participants to negotiate, strategise, and reflect on the complexities of balancing national interests with regional stability, while deepening their understanding of Singapore’s role in ASEAN.

Group Discussion and Sharing

After the simulation, participants reflected on the challenges of decision-making, ASEAN cooperation, and the tensions between sovereignty, stability, and shared responsibility, before sharing how different countries responded to regional scenarios and linking these insights to real-world ASEAN dynamics.

OHCC 2026 gave participants the opportunity to move beyond classroom learning and engage with regional issues in an interactive and reflective way. By combining simulation, discussion, and student sharing, the session encouraged Hwa Chongians to think critically about Singapore’s place in ASEAN and their own role as future citizens and leaders.
